The one-layer rule
Put one fitted sheet made from 100% natural fibre (cotton, linen or bamboo) over the mattress cover. Your skin's natural moisture lets the connection pass through that single layer.
Avoid between you and the cover:
- quilts or extra layers
- thick mattress pads or toppers
- full-length pyjamas top and bottom (bare arms or legs work best)
- synthetic sheets such as polyester
Toppers and mattress protectors
Put these under the grounding cover. The order from the bottom up is: mattress, topper, grounding cover, natural-fibre sheet, you.
Satin or silk sheets
Satin is a weave, not a fibre, so it depends what it's made from. For the best connection, choose cotton, linen or bamboo.
Electric blankets
You can use one, as long as it isn't between your body and the grounding cover. On top of you or under the cover is fine. We suggest warming the bed, then switching the blanket off before you sleep.
Our product tester won't light up through my sheet
That's normal. The tester measures direct contact. It can't replicate your body's warmth, moisture and pressure, and dry or cool conditions make it even less likely to register through fabric. If the tester lights up directly on the mattress cover, you're grounded when you lie on it with a single natural-fibre sheet. Press the tester firmly when testing.
Does it make noise?
No. The top surface is slightly grippy so your sheet doesn't slide, but it's quiet to sleep on.
